Alexander Graham Bell and Charles Sumner Tainter invented and patented the photophone in 1880. This marked the beginning of wireless technology. Communication occurred over narrow projections of electromagnetic waves which required a clear line of sight between the transmitter and the receiver. Things have obviously come a long way in the 130 years since. However, decades passed between the invention of the photophone and its technology being applied in a practical way. First uses were for military communication and later for fiber-optic communication. This idea of wireless communication has now vastly expanded to include many industries and applications.
JTECH, a leader in on-premises wireless applications has taken this technology first recognized by Alexander Graham Bell and Charles Sumner Tainter and incorporated it into a multitude of industries ranging from hospitality to health care. Part of JTECH’s advantage is that they are a financially secure company dedicated to finding new products to suit the needs of their customers. Why does this matter? Because JTECH’s communication systems are just that – systems. They are designed for organic growth so that when the needs of a business change, the system can change alongside it. In some instances this might mean scaling the pager system up or down and in other instances this might mean incorporating additional products. While the photophone might not have been of much use in its day and age, wireless paging is currently very useful in a host of places such as salons, nurseries, pharmacies, casinos and automotive dealerships–just to name a few.
